OPERATION F.I.T.
Families in Touch
Operation F.I.T. (Families in Touch) is a service
unique to the Florida Air National Guard (FANG). Since Guard
families are so widely disbursed across the state, Operation F.I.T.
represents a virtual community that brings people together despite
their separation. Operation F.I.T. collects contact information for
FANG families who choose to participate, and prints the information
on an activation roster with the names of other families affected by
the same deployment. Participating families receive the roster when
their Guard member deploys. This roster provides them with contact
information for others who are experiencing the same thing. Families
use the roster to check in with each other, to share information,
and/or to organize get-togethers in their loved-ones’ absence.
Operation F.I.T. also provides email updates to
those who include their email address on the information form. Further, it provides a means for
Family Readiness representatives and volunteers to check with
families during deployments to see how things are going, and to
offer assistance when needed. Finally, it is an opportunity for FANG
families to let us know how we can better serve their needs.
Participation in Operation F.I.T. is voluntary.
Most Guard members enroll their families in
Operation F.I.T. during their yearly training. If you would like to
make sure that you are a part of this important virtual community
– or would like more information about it – simply call us at
904-741-7027 or 904-741-7212, or email us at: family.readiness@fljack.ang.af.mil.
